Silver Oval Spoon Pair, 18th Century

A beautiful pair of 18th-century French silver spoons, made in Paris between 1762 and 1768. Measuring an impressive 8.25 inches long, each spoon is crafted in exceptionally fine 950 silver and reflects the refined elegance of French table silver during the reign of Louis XV.

The generous oval bowls and graceful proportions are characteristic of fine Parisian silver of the period, when even the most functional pieces of the dining table were created with an extraordinary attention to balance and form. More than 250 years old, the pair offers a wonderful glimpse into the sophisticated dining traditions of pre-Revolutionary France.

The maker’s mark is present but no longer sufficiently legible to allow a confident attribution. Nevertheless, the surviving Paris hallmarks allow the spoons to be placed within the 1762–1768 period.
