Georgian English Sterling Silver Asparagus Tongs

A handsome example of Georgian silver serving ware, these sterling silver asparagus tongs were made by noted London silversmiths William Eley & William Fearn circa 1801. The elegant sprung design features long, gently curved arms joined at the end, with one gripping surface finely ribbed to securely hold asparagus spears for serving.
